1995
York Solutions Founded
In 1988, Bill Carr set out with a vision to connect exceptional technology talent with Fortune 500 companies. Building on his early career in chemical personnel recruiting, he believed he could create a company that delivered greater value and impact. Through hard work, long hours, and unwavering determination, York Solutions was born.
1998
Richard Walker Joined
After several years of getting to know our founder, Bill Carr, and periodically consulting for him, Richard was invited to join York Solutions as a partner to help grow the company’s Chicago headquarters. From that moment, the journey toward building the York Solutions we know today began.
2000
Minnesota Office Opened
As the business grew, so did the presence of York Solutions. With many clients being located in Minneapolis, York Solutions opened up an office in Minnesota. Today, this office houses most of our employees.
2009
ThinkIT Association Founded
In the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, our CEO, Richard Walker, saw an opportunity to engage with CIOs in career transition. He began connecting with them on the golf course, and from those conversations, Think IT was born. York aimed to go beyond simply helping people find jobs—our focus shifted to offering meaningful professional development. That led to the creation of events, roundtables, and a unique training program. Today, Think IT boasts a national network of over 5,000 members who are passionate about learning, growth, and collaboration within the tech industry.
Emerging Talent Program (Formerly Barriers to Entry/B2E) Founded
Founded in 2009, York Solutions launched the Emerging Talent program (formerly known as Barriers to Entry) to rethink the development of technology talent. Instead of relying on traditional hiring methods, we identify high-potential individuals and provide the training needed to succeed in technology roles. This unique approach creates a scalable talent pool that most organizations cannot access through conventional channels. Today, Emerging Talent delivers hundreds of skilled professionals each year, giving our clients a sustainable pipeline of diverse, high-performing talent ready to drive innovation and results.
2010
Link to Leadership Launched
This program aids technology professionals in developing their soft skills while giving them the opportunity to learn from some of the most senior technology leaders within Think IT.
2021
National Sales Team Founded
As a growing brand, York Solutions formalized its national presence by forming a national sales team devoted to clients outside of Chicago and Minnesota.
Technology Solutions Group Formed
York Solutions formed the Technology Solutions Group as an extension of our technology consulting services, uniting highly qualified experts to deliver innovative, technology-driven solutions for clients.
2023
Year-End Revenue Doubles Since 2015
York Solutions celebrated in 2023 as their revenue growth doubled in less than ten years.
2024
Expanded Offshore and Nearshore Capabilities
York Solutions has expanded its global delivery capabilities by offering both offshore and nearshore team options.
2025
York Solutions Opened a Capabilities Center in India
York Solutions expanded its global presence with the opening of a new location in India. This move enhances our ability to serve clients worldwide, leverage top regional talent, and strengthen international collaboration.
York’s Subsidiary Company MaxQ Studio Goes Live
York Solutions launched MaxQ Studio to transform its decades of IT consulting expertise into a launchpad for SaaS innovation — a place where first-principles thinking blends with customer collaboration, turning cutting-edge AI and software into real business impact and measurable ROI.
