May 16, 2017
At York, we value each of our team members and we want to share their stories with you. This month, learn more about Aaron Wagner, System Administrator, and why he thinks it’s important to enjoy the little things in life.
Can you tell us a little more about yourself? (Where are you from, where did you go to school, any hobbies, etc.?)
I grew up in the Anoka area, but I currently live in Minneapolis. I attended Anoka-Ramsey community college where I received my Associate’s Degree in Computer Networking and Telecommunications.
I enjoy reading the news, playing video games, listening to music, and reading a variety of subjects including philosophy, politics, crime fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary literature.
Can you tell us more about your role?
My role is to ensure the stability and accessibility of various technologies we use internally. Most of what I do is desktop help and support.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was when my grandfather picked me up from pre-school day care. I do not remember if we did anything special afterwards, but it was the surprise and joy of seeing him that sticks in my mind. I was probably told that he would be picking me up, but at that age I would have easily forgotten. While this experience is not that unique, it causes me to reflect and remember the simple joys in life then and now.
What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given to you?
“Remember to grow together and not apart.” – My grandfather on lasting relationships
Who is/are your role model(s)/ has influenced you the most?
Father, Mother, Sister, Grandparents.
What is your favorite quote, movie, book, or song that truly resonates/ motivates you? Why?
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” – Oscar Wilde
While pessimistic, this quote reminds me to keep looking forward and improve the world I live in. It also shows me that I can find beauty and meaning in any situation.
What drew you to York Solutions and what are you looking forward to most about working here?
I was really impressed by the professionalism York displayed when I was working on the DRC contract. When I heard that they would be looking to fill an internal position, I was eager and excited to apply.
